Weekend trip Ghatshila

                         Ghatshila is a small town in the state of Jharkand . The town is located on the bank of Subarnarekha river . It is a popular place for weekend tour and famous for picnic during winter. The place is ideal for climate change and natural beauty all around the town. You can take a an evening walk on the bank of Subarnarekha river.

Place to see : Burudih lake is the main attraction of Ghatshila. other than Burudih lake , the other attraction are Subarnarekha river , Dharagiri falls , Galudih Dam ,Hindustan Copper Limite , Phuldungri Hill ,House of Bibhuti Bhusan Bandhapadya ect.

Burudih lake : Burudih lake is around 9 km away from the main town. The lake is surrounded by hills And lush of green around it .The scenic beauty of the Burudih Lake is marvelous .You can spend some time on the bank of the lake and can take some fresh  breath on the pure air.You will see the fisher man are fishing there .This spot is famous for picnic .Number of Picnic party come and enjoy picnic around the lake in the winter.

Dharagiri falls : You have to go another 5 km from Burudih lake to see Dharagiri falls .Road are not well build , traveling though this road is very tuff , but all around you , you will get green scenery and you may notice some innocent villager is passing by , most of the are Santal.You will meet some village over here while going toward the falls, but the thick forest and hills around create its own charm . Around 1.5km from Dharagiri falls , your Auto / Car will stop , you have to take any villager or younger person to guide you towards the falls.Mainly some small children of this area are ready to this work .We went in the month of May , we found a small water flow from the falls , but we cam to know that in the Monsoon , the flow become large and heavy.

Subarnarekha River : Subarnarekha means golden steak , though the river is not so deep , but it is the heart of the town . Picnic is also done in the bank of Subarnarekha mostly in the winter . Large grass and yellowish water , create a beautiful view of Subarnarekha .

Galudih  : Galudih , a barrage on Subarnarekha river is just few kilometer away .you can hire a taxi or Auto to visit Galudih . The Barrage is beautiful and you can spend some time on the barrage.

Next attraction is house of Bibhuti Bhusan Bandhapadya , the famous Bengali writer of “Pather pachali” ,”Araner Din Ratri” etc .The name of the house is “Gaurikunj” . The earlier house now renovated .Here you can see the several thing user by the writer . His books , tables , dress ect.

How to Reach : By Train from Howrah Ispat Express, Steel Express

By road , kolkata to Ghashila distance around 240 Km.You can drive you own car . There is no direct bus kolkata to Ghatshila.You will get bus from Kharagpur.

Where to Stay : There are few hotels in Ghatshila , hotel Akash, Hoter Shehalata ect. It is recommended to Book hotels before goin there, specially during the winter. There are some home stay also.

                 Purulia a district of West Bengal ,India . A land of Bengali culture and tradition. Purulia was earlier known as “Manbhum City”. This district is famous for "chhau" dance , a cultural  and tradition dance of Bengal.

 

                                        
What to see :- The main attraction of purulia is Ayodha hill, chhau dance,Mayus hill , Pakhi hill ect.

Ayodha hill :  The hill is situated in between Jharkand and Purulia .The hill is full of dense forest with wild animals. While traveling toward Ayodha hill from purulia , you will see sugar cane field. Hut made of mud and beautifully decorated with natural color by the Santhal  people. In Ayodha hills there is a falls, locally called "Brahmani" falls. You have to get down by rocks to see the falls , while getting down the falls , you will notice a beautiful blue dam full of water , the blue water with lust of green around it. After getting down the steps of the rocks ,you with get Brahmani falls. Then you can go to visit Mayus hills, you have to go to the top of the Mayus hill by walkin , beautiful scenic beauty from the top of the hill. There are two Dam in Adoydha , upper Ayodha dam and Lower Ayodha Dam.This dam are actually nothing but hydro electric project.

The beautifull green Ayodha and in between this dam create a beautiful scenic beauty. You can also go to this dam , Broad road goes through the dam ,you can enjoy the beauty of the dam . Ajodhya is also ideal for trekking , a lot of people trek around it every year.

You can also go to Pakhi Pahar , a variety number of bird can be watch here.

Chhau dance is the famous attraction of purulia .A village name “Charida” is famous in the world , where mask of "chhcu" dance is prepared.While walking though the road in charida , both side you will notice small house ,if you notce carefully , you will notice ,each house , chhau artist are making mask of chhau dance . Chhau mash are made of wet paper , mud , decorate after .You can also purchase mask from from them . Some of the artist  national level award winner .


Purulia Science Museum is another attraction of purulia . Try to visit Purulia Science Museum and it is very close to purulia main city. You can take a Ricksaw to go there.

Where to stay :There are a lot of moderate and elite hotels in Purulia.You can do your booking from kolkata also.We stayed at “Sankat Mochan” hotel.The room rent was 700/- and food quality and hotels staff behavior was very attractive.

While returning , you can go to Joychandi Pahar , a raiway station is named after the devi "joy chandi" . At the top of the hill ,a Temple of lord Joychandi is there , you can visit there and worship Devi Joychandi.

               Chintamani Kar Bird sanctuary is famous designation of bird lover.It is a safe home of different kind of bird including White-throated Fantail, Common Hawk Cuckoo , Streak-throated Woodpecker, Emerald Dove and many more.

               Chintamani Kar Bird sanctuary is located in South 24-Parganas district of West Bengal to the west of Netaji Subhas Road connecting Garia with Baruipur near Rajpur Bazar.It is knows as 'Kayaler Bagan' among the local people .It is very close to Ramkrishna Mission Institute, Narendrapur.The exact stoppage is Rathtala.

                  While entering the sanctuary , a list is put up , which shows the list of bird can be watch here .You will watch a variety of butterfly and insect over here . Within the jungle there is an office made of mud ,the staff are very co-operative and will guide you , if you  ask any assistance . The ambience are very calm and greenly all side , you will enjoy different sound of bird , they are calling around you . Binocular will help you to find bird and see them properly . Note that  you have to walk through the jungle , you should wear a good covered shoe to protect you from insect . There you can also see some very old tree of mango . In between the forest , there is a forest , if you are visiting in winter and if you are lucky , you can also see some migration bird also.

                    ChinaMani kar Bar Santuary comes under Diecrtorate of Forest ,Govt of West Bengal .

                                  

When to visti : Spring and winter is the ideal time , if possible avoid rainy season.

How to Reach : Travel by train –Sonarpur from Sealdah (South).Auto ,ToTo,Taxi,private car can be hirer to reach Chintamani Kar Bird sanctuary.It will take hardly 20 minutes from sonarpur.

Travel by Car : By -- EM Bypass connector – Kamalgazi---toward Narendrapore—Rathtala.You can reach from Baruipur also , From Baruipur station , Bus , Auto are available towards Garia .You have to get down Rathtala.

Where to Stay : There is no such facility .

Where to eat : There is no such facility , best option to carry own food.
You can also have your launch by going Rajpur Bazar.Which is hardly 1 Km away, there you will get some cheap hotels & modarate resturant also. 

You must carry odomos , Binoculor to enjoy the forest . Just before the garden , there is “Bhaskar bhawan”.You can also visit Ramkrishna Mission ,Bittarini Bari (Temple) which are very near to the garden .

  Raichak

Raichak is a small town in Diamond Harbour in South 24 pargana of West Bengal in India. It is famous picnic spot near kolkata. It is located on the bank of the Hooghly river only Located only 50 kms away from Kolkata .Raichak is only two-hour drive away from Kolkata. A beautiful river bank ideal for picnic and weenend destination .Diamond Harbour is very close to Raichak this acts as a link between Haldia and Kolkata .One can visit Diamond Harbour from here or can go to Haldia by crossing river over launch.You can take of a breathe of fresh air.

Where to Stay : There are some hotels , one can book easily from kolkata or going there.You can book The Ffort Raichak,Raichak Guest House,Anaya Kutir ect.

When to Go : Best time will be winter .

 How to Go : From Kolkata , take Diamon Hourbour bound bus, ask to stop at Raichak more.

Hanseswari Temple of West Bengal
This Sunday we visited Hanseswari Temple , Bansberia .The beautiful Mandir and adjacent temple is ideal for 1 day visit from kolkata , specially who like to wordship .There are two temple , Hanseswari and Vasudev Temple , which is  maintained by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).There is a good history of this temple. Hanseswari is a hindu temple of lord Hanseswari.The temple build by Raja Nrisinhadeb Roy Mahasay in 1788.The shape of the tower of the temple look likes lotus flower.

How to go : Bansberia is a station between Tribeni and Bandel .One can avail direct katwa local to reach Bansberia or one can reach  Bandel , from Bandel  , train are available for Bansberia . Some can hire TOTO to reach the temple direct from Bandel also.

                 Bansberia surrounding is calm , those who are tired of crowded city kolkata , they will enjoy the calm ambience of this area. Roads are well build and most of the local convenience is TOTO , Auto .We hired a TOTO. The driver told us , Bansberia is famous for “Kartic Puja”. In kartic puja huge number of pandal , procession and thousand of gathering happen here.

                    You can read the history of Hanseswari Temple  by searching internet and several book are available in the market.

While returning , you can come through Bandel also. You can visit Bandel Chuch ,Imambara also.

Where to Eat : Near Bansberia there is no good restaurant .One can take “Bhog” of Mandir by paying 35/- , but you have to enlist your name before 10 AM . Second option is , there is a Dhaba between Bandel and Basberia , beside the high road .One can take food from there also.

Taki , Hasnabad ,West Bengal

                     Taki is a small city situated at the bank of ichamati  . The city is very close to Bangladesh border . Location ,scenic beauty , beauty is marvelous .It is ideal place for all age oneday weekend tour .It is also famous picnic spot of west Bengal .One can reach there by 2 hours driving  from kolkata . Distance between kolkata and taki is 73 Km , though the main attraction of Taki is ichamati river , you can see Bangladeh from far also , but in Durgapuja  “Dasami” , both country local people  of Inda and Bangladesh celebrate “Bhasan” together.

Where to stay  : There are some Guest house near icamati river . Taki Torist Bunglow , Sunchine Guest house are among them . Booking from kolkata also possible .One can take meal to Taki tourish bunglow .Meal are testy as well as Good ambience.

Tourist spot : Ichamati river is the main attraction of Taki .During travel we hired a cycle van.There are road side by side of the river .You can enjoy the view of the river while travelling by van.Opposite side of the river , you will noticed Bangladesh .Machranga deep is the second attraction of Taki .You have to go there by Launch.

The next attraction is “Mini Sndarban” . You can also hire a cycle van to reach there . Artificial bridge , Sundari tree, Hetal tree is planted and look like a dense forest .You can visit the whole mini forest by walk .

Other place of attraction is Zamindar Bari , Zora Shib mandi r, Taki Govt High Shool and many more.

How to reach  :From Sealdah take Hasnabad local ,reach Taki in 2 Hours . After that hire a cycle Van to visit the city.
